Jr. Lifeguard Program
The CMBP Jr. Lifeguard Program was established by Captain Buzz Mogck in 1992. The program was developed by Lieutenants Harry Back and Geoff Rife and geared toward lifeguarding in South Jersey.
The goals of the program are to promote:
Water and beach safety
Working together as a team
Good health and fitness
Respect for the ocean and beach
Development of future lifeguards
Having fun in a learning environment
Good Sportsmanship
The program is open to all boys and girls ages 9 to 15. The only requirement for enrollment is to be a confident swimmer. There are two divisions of the program, they are Jr. Guards and Advanced Jr. Guards. Junior guards are placed in three age groups, Group A 14-15, Group B 12-13, and Group C 9-11. Here they learn basic skills in ocean swimming, beach running and paddling.
The 2008 Program will run from July 1 to July 31.
Groups A, B and C meet on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 10am to 12pm.
The fee is $80.00 (includes official CMBP Jr. Lifeguard uniform)
Registration will begin the last weekend in May
